Xero was a huge upgrade going from Quickbooks desktop to an online system. It can be accessed from anywhere at anytime without having to deal with servers and firewalls. The interface is very user friendly and navigation is pretty straightforward and easy.
There are a few things that I would like to receive notifications for that at the moment cannot be accomodated. For example, when an invoice is paid, there is currently no way to get an email notification/confirmation. I'm not sure if it's our internet connection, but sometimes loading an account can be a bit slow. I use it almost everywhere, home, work, travel, and the load times always are about the same no matter what the speed of the internet connection. Regardless, it's significantly faster than anytime I was using Quickbooks.
The problems we have solved with Xero are the ability to receive payments online quickly, send and track invoices repeatedly with minimal effort, see an accounts historical events, and produce useful reports as needed. Generating quotes, invoices, purchase orders, bills, etc. is very easy. The repeating invoice function has also been tremendously helpful to us in ensuring that we are invoicing clients as needed.
The best feature I like about this software is the invoicing that it eases and I can invoice my customers instantly, but that not being enough the automated bank feeds, purchase orders and depreciation of fixed assets,standard business and management reporting that come with this service make it a must have for all businesses small and big for proper accounts and financial monitoring of the progress of the company. It is always important to fast track that profit.
The services offered are exceptionally good and thus at the moment I have experienced no downsides yet.
The greatest benefit that we have realized on our journey with this software has been the efficient and effective invoicing to our clients which are time saving and efficient and then on top of that is the automated bank feeds that keep our business and sales monitoring in check and then all the other accounting packages that come with the software have eased the accounting aspects of our business making it easy for us to keep proper books of account.
Xero is user friendly and easy to navigate. This program connects with you bank accounts and allows you to reconcile all expenses.
The only thing I do not like is that once you submit an invoice you are NOT able to edit it. You have to delete it and then start over.

As far as cloud-based accounting software goes, Xero is one of the finest options. I am an accountant/bookkeeper so: It's very user-friendly, designed to be usable for non-accountants. All the debit/credits etc. happen at backend and user does most things in plain language Secondly, support. It's quite an old software with a large user-base so it's forums and Help (Xero Central) has articles on most of the common troubleshooting issues and guides for using features. The productivity features that save time for accountants and power users like Global shortcuts, Find and Redo (mass transactions), automatic matching of transactions, labels etc. It offers Xero advisor certification that helps regular users differentiate and showcase their expertise. and it is free, unlike say NetSuite.
The interface is friendly but it could use some modernization. Another thing as an accountant is that Xero didn't allow me to register as a partner because I didn't have existing clients on Xero. So I can't start over at Xero, unlike QuickBooks. I feel it a little unnecessarily elitist.

Xero program is user friendly and free with many invoices features which always produces efficient results because it processes our finance and accounts invoices and expenses and in this why, we don't really have to worry about the financial condition. I like the fact that Xero is really simple to use and it has same capabilities on our phone or on our laptop so we can easily complete our business work.
Xero platform did not allow us to bring the book keeping in house because it has a lot of work to setup and it did not seems to understand the different sale channels for online sellers. Xero does not generate tax rates in an automated way and also it also does not allow us to log in at any time and place, due to the strictness of security.
Xero software is super responsive and the extremely helpful for our business because by using this efficient tool, we can easily manage our accounts and invoices in a better way. Xero software helps us so much to understand and learning about accounting. Xero is relatively easy to use and helps us a lot and allows us to see documents.
Xero has most of the features a small business needs, easy to use, and has lots of innovation going on to keep me satisfied that it will be relevant in the future. For example, it connects to all relevant online services for payments, bank statement import etc. Multi-user access to all the typical cash flow and expense management features is done really nicely too. They keep adding the right features, albeit a bit slow, but that's understandable for an internationally used financial tool that features need very thorough testing.
There are mainly some painful issues to do with the local Irish VAT accounting which they are still working on. The new invoicing system seems less intuitive than the old one. Line items in invoices and quotes are very cumbersome to move around. The UX could be much better here. The worst part is probably the lack of transparency of the road map. The company have deliberately removed the dates from the user feedback forum so that the requests that are several years old don't have the weight behind them and it is impossible to judge how slow or fast they are progressing with certain things.
Saving loads of time by getting the staff to submit all the expenses through the Xero mobile app is a great time saver. It empowers small organizations with big player workflows when it comes to accounting and bookkeeping.
It has been the most profitable tool for all our accounting needs. It is very easy to configure with the meter, reducing the time required in accounting activities. Your ability to record individual transactions has helped our accountant answer all of our questions. What I like most about Xero is that it is a cloud-based software, it is very easy to use, representing a solid solution with very complex features, being compatible with any device as long as it has Internet access.
Sometimes I have had problems to configure the automatic bank feeds for which some bank accounts cannot process the feeds, this has the consequence that these transactions must be entered manually.
We have found Xero to be the simplest and most cost effective solution to our accounting needs. Xero is configured with our accountant and has reduced the time that needs to be spent on accounting each month. With the automatic bank details, the time we need to reconcile the accounts for each month is minimal. In addition, the ability to record individual transactions helps the accountant to answer any questions we may have and with Xero we have been able to create custom templates, as well as easily create coupons, invoice forms and purchase orders.
I like everything about this software! I use this on a daily basis and it helps me keep track of the status of the business. What made me surprise about this software is the sophisticated tabs to track invoices and bills at the same time. It also provides an amazing process for generating payroll and as` well as maintaining Profit and Loss and any other accounting data. Overall, I'm just satisfied.

Xero is unbelievable - it makes running our business so much easier. It's a one stop shop for managing our bank account transations, filing receipts and expenses, and processing tax and our VAT returns. Xero basically runs and contains our entire business - including client records and billing and everything in between.
The cost - £25 a month for an online database can seem steep, but I keep telling our team that it easily saves us that much every month in manpower. The integration of MTD for tax returns has been absolutely amazing - it means we can file VAT on time, every time.
It's allowed us to keep track of all our equipment and spending, and file receipts in a safe, secure, organised space where we can access for audits at any time. I only wish we'd used Xero from day 1 of the business!

The main disadvantage of this software is that Xero software completely removed all of its features, which is very convenient and helpful for the users but now there is no more any convenient feature like the service and customer records and the inventory tracking.

Easy to streamline and integrate with other systems in order to bring your information in. Can leave a discussion for other team members or easily match up already created rules in the system to keep up to date easily.
The books don't always end up even at the end and I can't find a rhyme or reason as to why. The dashboard, other than knowing which feeds to go to, is incredibly difficult to read, and some of the terms they use for functions are hard to understand and thus hard to use. It is very easy to make a mistake in here. It is not clear in the records which reconciliations have gone to which accounts, which would be great information to have when trying to learn how to do/teach new functions. It's always nice to be able to go look at someone else's work to confirm you're doing something right. Sometimes the syncing doesn't go through and you have to enter things manually, and that can heavily bog down the computer and make the process slow going. I often have to restart/refresh my computer after 3-5 batch reconciliations / an hour of work.

The ability to notate individual transactions helps our accountant to respond to our questions. As a small business keeping our accountancy bills down is important to us and using Xero helps achieve this as the time our accountant has to spend on our accounts is lowever.
Some of the automatic accounts Xero suggests you reconcile to are not always correct. We had some problems establishing some of the initial bank feeds and still have one bank account that will not process the feeds. Unfortunately we have to enter those transactions manually.
As a small business one key priority is to keep our monthly book keeping tasks to a minimum. Switching from MYOB to XERO we have seen a significant reduction in our book keeping time required each month. Not being accountants or book keeping experts using Xero as our accounting software has made this area of our business more efficient. Our accountant assists us as how best to use the software and as such we have been able to develop a simple client - accountant relationship with Xero being the main conduit of information between us.

Since moving to Xero from day one we have found a significant reduction in our book keeping time input. We are NOT accountants or book keeping experts and Xero as an accounting system has definitely made this part of our business much more efficient. We are guided by our accountant as how best to use the software and have been able to develop a simple client - accountant relationship with Xero being the main conduit of information between us.
We had issues setting up some of the automatic bank feeds and still have one bank account that will not process the feeds so we need to enter those transactions manually. We also cant seem to get the email upload to work for bills / PO's.
